Whangarei’s Vegan Expo

Here in Whangarei, we launched New Zealand’s first Vegan Expo in 2016 which was a huge success.

In 2017, Whangarei Mayor Sheryl Mai attended and cut the silverbeet (yes, really!) to open the Expo! The crowd numbered over 1,600 and well exceeded numbers of the year before.

Interest is constantly on the rise and people go home having enjoyed the food, speakers and atmosphere. It’s inspiring! 2018 saw a further rise in attendance.  2019 Vegan Expo was a success with over 1200 attendees. Visit the 2021 Expo and be thrilled to pieces.

The expo is perfect for those who are curious to learn more about cruelty-free alternatives to meat, eggs and dairy products, as well as vegetarians, vegans and allergy sufferers.  And, of course, the alternatives offered are environmentally much more friendly!

“After all the information I gathered about the mistreatment of animals, I couldn’t continue to eat meat.  The more I was aware of, the harder and harder it was to do.”

Liam Hemsworth, actor in the Hunger Games Film Series
